Scoop

Scoop (2006) ****-

Sondra is an American college journalist who learns by a reporter's ghost that Lyman, a handsome British aristocrat, is a notorious serial murderer. Investigating the story, she makes acquaintance with Lyman and falls in love with him.
Even though it's not one of the greatest Woody Allen's movie, it's worth your watching it.
It is starring Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johansson, Ian McShane, and Allen himself.
Usual flow of Woody Allen's words is now unusually splitted between Johansson and Allen.

My favorites of Woody Allen's are
Everyone Says I Love You (1996)
Bullets Over Broadway (1994)

A Good Year

A Good Year (2006) ****-

British city life vs French country life.
There is a businessman who lives to make money to make money to make money, and further on. Does he live for real?
A trip to Provence chateau of his childhood after death of his uncle and an encounter with a local girl put him into a dilemma.
The movie is of good quality and could be even better if some actions were less standard and well-known.

Take the Lead

 Take the Lead (2006) *****

It's just to recall one of the best movie this year.
The movie is full of musique, dance, and life.
Strike of two cultural phenomena of hip-hop and ball dance produce sparkles.
Antonio Banderas is also sparkling and convincing as a ballroom dancer and teacher (Pierre Dulaine).
And there are not only plenty of good cuts to see but some thoughts worth to know.

The Holiday

The Holiday (2006) *****

How to get happy?
Swapping your house with another unhappy girl's is the answer.
Good acting, good directing, and good warm feelings.
All is good.
Two thumbs and toes up.
Psichologically real thing.
One of the best film this year.

Deck The Halls

 Deck The Halls (2006) ***--

It's not bad, it's not good.
About two families which male heads compete in Chrismas decoration of their houses.
One family is order, the other's disorder.
De Vito is good as usuall but cannot save the movie director.
Artificially plotted and with many logical gaps it tries hard to get happy end.
If you have a good movie at hand, you can skip this one.
If not, I wish you good time. Probably it doesn't spoil your good mood.
